The unit was intended to be donated to Thursday Island, but this didn't eventuate due to logistical reasons. It is now at the Rail Heritage WA museum in Bassendean. 22nd April 2000.Nov 12, 2020

251-14218 viewsNelson Point, BHP's retired Goninan WA's ALCo C636 to GE C36-7M rebuilds, these were the first time in the world that an ALCo C636 had been rebuilt into an GE C36-7, are lined up near the service shop awaiting their fate. The line is 5510, 5506, 5508, 5512, 5513, 5507, 5509, 5511, and, 5513. They had recently been displaced due to the arrival of the AC6000 units which also took their name plates.
