VOFX 1018 started life as ELX 1018 built by Bendigo Workshops December 1974, recoded to VOCX 1018 in 1981. Recoded to VOFX in 1987-88.

Other codes carried were NQDX, NKDX then RKXX before 70 tonne bogies were fitted in 1995 for the current code. 31st May 2016 at West Kalgoorlie.

CD 4302 is the only unit powering as it was being tested. 17th January 2018.
