In the background is QR English Electric built model RSE92C 1620 class leader 1620.

Budd in 1939 numbered 301 as the Silver Star as a diner-parlour-observation coach on the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad's General Pershing Zephyr train from the 1930s and 1940s. Donated to Mt Newman Mining Co. by AMAX an original joint venture partner to commemorate the projects first 100 million tonnes of iron ore railed between Mount Whaleback mine and the Port Hedland port.

Only a couple of weeks later and these signals would be reduced in number greatly as Benalla yard was heavily rationalised, all in the name of progress!

250-08454 viewsPelican Siding on the Hamersley Iron Tom Price line about the 208 km empty ore waggon 1171 is an example of the units built by Tomlinson Steel WA and is a control or master waggon of the pair and shows the re-sheeting paint symbol to indicate that all four sides and the floor have been replaced. Note the square bar coupling on the right hand side to the slave waggon 6085, HI run what they call 'Married Pairs'. 21st October 2000.

This unit is almost identical to the GT26C models of the WAGR L class. September 1995.

Also noticeable, the units don't have dynamic brakes fitted so there is no brake 'blister' in the middle of the hood like you see on the GT26C models of WAGR L or VR C classes.
