250-22396 viewsCape Lambert South Yard and Robe River's 9426 a Comeng WA rebuild from ALCo Schenectady NY model C636 serial 3499-3 originally built in January 1968 for Pennsylvania as #6332, Penn Central 6332 and finally Conrail 6782. Purchased in 1986 and rebuilt by Comeng WA into C636R before delivery to Robe in November 1986. This loco also went on to become DR 8401 for construction of FMG's railway in 2007-08. Seen here in the South Yard dragging a loaded rake down to the car dumper as yard expansion works are underway to the left. 22nd October 2000.

251-03396 viewsNelson Point, BHP's recently retired Goninan WA ALCo C636 to GE C36-7M rebuild unit 5508 awaits its fate. Rebuilt in 1987 at Goninan's Welshpool factory from 1969 AE Goodwin built ALCo C636 with serial number G6041-2 and road number 5466 and assigned new serial number 4839-04 / 87-073. It was delivered in Mt Newman Mining orange and was named Fortescue. It also carried the marigold and teal version of the Australia map as part of the BHP logo. In 2003 it was fully rebuilt and leased to Pilbara Rail in that livery and numbered 5052. It survives stored at 7 mile complex as at Dec 2021. 22nd April 2000.

245-17396 viewsWudinna, empty grain train shunts back into the grain siding with a trio of former Australian National Co-Co locomotives with rebuilt former AE Goodwin ALCo model DL531 830 class ex 839, serial no. 83730, rebuilt by Port Augusta Workshops to DA class, DA 4 leading two AE Goodwin ALCo model DL531 830 class units 842, serial no. 84140 and 851 serial no. 84137, 851 having been on the Eyre Peninsula since delivered in 1962. 7th April, 2003.

This was a special for the 25 years of the Alstom / BHP service agreement. Friday 12th of April 2002.

The RY started life in 1933 built as an IZ type, July 1966 recoded to RY.
