251-0229 viewsNelson Point, BHP's recently retired Goninan WA ALCo C636 to GE C36-7M rebuild unit 5506 awaits its fate. Rebuilt in 1987 at Goninan's Welshpool factory from 1969 AE Goodwin built ALCo C636 with serial number G6012-4 and road number 5455 and assigned new serial number 4839-01 / 87-071. It was delivered in Mt Newman Mining orange and was named Mt Whaleback, then in 1991 5506 emerged in BHP livery carrying Ethel Creek, it was later changed to Mt Goldsworthy, it was also one of three units to carry the Goldsworthy Joint Venture lettering. 22nd April 2000.

Rebuilt in 1988 at Goninan's Welshpool factory from 1970 AE Goodwin built ALCo C636 with serial number G6041-1 and road number 5465 and assigned new serial number 4839-01 / 88-077. It was delivered in Mt Newman Mining orange and was named Hesta. 22nd April 2000.

246-3028 viewsCape Lambert, a Robe River loaded Deepdale train rolls along the mainline with the normal 202 waggons which are a mix of builds from Nippon Sharyo Japan and Tomlinson Steel and Centurion Industries both WA companies. The ore is a ROM product and will be dumped over the gyratory crusher to be correctly sized. 22nd May 2002.

247-3528 viewsNear Cooya Pooya at the 37.5 km on the Robe River Cape Lambert line an empty train passes under the town water supply pipeline and pass through Lockyer Gap behind the standard Robe power of quad CM40-8M or Dash 8 locomotives led by 9425 with 9410, 9420 and last unit 9414 which is a Goninan WA ALCo to GE rebuild CM40-8M with serial 8206-11 / 91-124 from November 1991 riding on Dofasco bogies and was originally an AE Goodwin built M636 ALCo built new for Robe in December 1971 and numbered 262.005, later numbered 1714. Location is here.22nd May 2002.

Rebuilt in 1987 at Goninan's Welshpool factory from 1969 AE Goodwin built ALCo C636 with serial number G6041-2 and road number 5466 and assigned new serial number 4839-04 / 87-073. It was delivered in Mt Newman Mining orange and was named Fortescue. It also carried the marigold and teal version of the Australia map as part of the BHP logo. In 2003 it was fully rebuilt and leased to Pilbara Rail in that livery and numbered 5052. It survives stored at 7 mile complex as at Dec 2021. 22nd April 2000.

268-2728 viewsAt the 39 km detection site with the Alstom 25-year service agreement special, BHP Iron Ore's Goninan GE rebuild CM40-8M unit 5653 'Chiba' serial number 8412-10 / 93-144 stands on the Newman mainline with The Sundowner and 5634 on the rear of the train as the party conducts an inspection of the site. Friday 12th of April 2002.

The siding has recently been renamed Harding and extended at the north end to accommodate the new West Angelas trains of up to 240 waggons. Wednesday 22nd May 2002.

283-3528 viewsNear Woodbrook as quad Robe River CM40-8M units 9414, 9420, 9410 and 9525 work a loaded 202 waggons bound for Cape Lambert as they pass through the cutting at the 37.5 km pipe bridge. 9410 which is a Goninan WA ALCo to GE rebuild CM40-8M with serial 2160-03 / 96-202 from March 1996 riding on Dofasco bogies and was originally a Comeng NSW built M636 ALCo serial C-6096-5 and built new for Mt Newman Mining (later BHP Iron Ore) in November 1975 and numbered 5500. Everything below the frame is ALCo, with the Comeng build style flat fuel tank, while above is GE and Pilbara Cab. 22nd May 2002.

130710 101128 viewsParkeston, SCT train 3PG1 operating from Perth to Melbourne, PQCY 657 was originally built by Victorian Railways Newport Workshops in 1971 as one of two hundred FQX type 60' 3TEU container flat waggons, it was recoded to VQCX before private ownership and reclassed PQCY type. PQCY 657 is now fitted with bulkheads and here loaded its own gates, and an SCT half height curtain sider 40' container SCT 1033 double stacked with Hamburg Sud 40' 45G1 type container HASU 404941.

Closest to the camera is the extended No. 1 Road which becomes the Empty Car Line from car dumper one for the Deepdale traffic. Next is the original line or Mainline and the third line across is the Loaded Car Line for the West Angelas traffic to the new car dumper 2. 22nd May 2002.

248-2127 viewsSeven Mile yard, stored Robe River ALCo locomotives at the south end of the Hamersley Iron Seven Mile yard on roads N2 and N3. On N2 is a cab comparison between AE Goodwin built ALCo M636 unit 9412 serial G-6060-3 from December 1971 and originally numbered 262.003 during construction and then 1712 on MLW Dofasco bogies with C636R units 9427 a Comeng WA C636R rebuild from ALCo Schenectady NY model C636 serial 3499-2 originally built in January 1968 for Pennsylvania Railroad as #6331, Penn Central 6331 and finally Conrail 6781. Purchased in 1986 and rebuilt by Comeng WA into C636R before delivery to Robe in January 1987 riding on the ALCo Hi-Ad bogie. This loco also went on to become DR 8403 for construction of FMG's railway in 2007-08. Behind it on N3 is 9413. Approximate location. 24th April 2004.

Originally an ore waggon and built by Magor USA and was one of the original fleet of waggons to come out to WA with the car dumper at the beginning of the Mt Newman project. 22nd April 2000.
