Rebuilt in 1987 at Goninan's Welshpool factory from 1969 AE Goodwin built ALCo C636 with serial number G6035-4 and road number 5463 and assigned new serial number 4839-08 / 87-076. It was delivered in Mt Newman Mining orange and was named Port Hedland. 551 holds the dubious honour of being the first unit withdrawn following an engine failure in 1998. 22nd April 2000.

283-35332 viewsNear Woodbrook as quad Robe River CM40-8M units 9414, 9420, 9410 and 9525 work a loaded 202 waggons bound for Cape Lambert as they pass through the cutting at the 37.5 km pipe bridge. 9410 which is a Goninan WA ALCo to GE rebuild CM40-8M with serial 2160-03 / 96-202 from March 1996 riding on Dofasco bogies and was originally a Comeng NSW built M636 ALCo serial C-6096-5 and built new for Mt Newman Mining (later BHP Iron Ore) in November 1975 and numbered 5500. Everything below the frame is ALCo, with the Comeng build style flat fuel tank, while above is GE and Pilbara Cab. 22nd May 2002.
