110620 2392r59 viewsWalla, comparison between loaded BHP ore waggons from Comeng WA in 2925 and from Astra Vagoane, Arad Romania in 3312. 2925 is from a batch of four hundred built in 1971 by Comeng WA, while 3312 is from a batch of three hundred and fifty built in 1988 by Astra Vagoane, of which only two hundred and eighty-four didn't enter service. The Comeng build features square side and floor joins, while the Astra Vagoane build is all rounded. 20th of June 2011.

030712 14324759 viewsNelson Point, empty BHP ore waggon 9024, originally built by Comeng in Mittagong NSW as a part of seven prototype ore waggons made from low carbon 301 stainless steel with an higher volume and aerodynamic flat sides and were bogieless with four independent radial wheel sets. Of the seven waggon, the first four had a flat floor and final three had a drop belly floor. The radial wheel sets were later replaced with conventional bogies. This view shows the reduced gap between waggons reduced from 1084 to 934 mm to aid the aerodynamics. 12th of July 2003.

It was donated from the Public Works Department at Point Samson in 1976. A picture of it in service can be found here at Weston Langford site. July 1, 2024.

248-1658 viewsSeven Mile yard, stored Robe River ALCo locomotives at the south end of the Hamersley Iron Seven Mile yard on roads N2 and N3. On road N2 is 9426 a Comeng WA C636R rebuild from ALCo Schenectady NY model C636 serial 3499-3 originally built in January 1968 for Pennsylvania Railroad as #6332, Penn Central 6332 and finally Conrail 6782. Purchased in 1986 and rebuilt by Comeng WA into C636R before delivery to Robe in November 1986. This loco also went on to become DR 8401 for construction of FMG's railway in 2007-08. Behind it is sister unit 9427 and ALCo M636 9412. Approximate location. 24th April 2004.

At the time of this image Siding 3 or Murray Camp was unable to cross ore trains so Siding One - Harding or Siding Two - Maitland were used. May 2002.

Rebuilt in 1988 at Goninan's Welshpool factory from a 1970 AE Goodwin built ALCo C636 with serial number G6041-1 and road number 5455 and assigned new serial number 4839-01 / 88-077. It was delivered in Mount Newman Mining orange and was named Hesta. Late 2001.

248-0657 viewsDingo Siding on the Hamersley Iron railway at the 39 km with an empty train headed up by a pair of General Electric built Dash 9-44CW units 9408 serial 54158 from the fourth order in 2003 wearing the Pilbara Rail livery with Robe ownership markings. The blue 230 sign is the indication that there is 230 waggons in clear at that point. Approximate location. 24th April 2004.

Goninan GE rebuild unit 5656 a CM40-8M unit with serial number 8412-01 / 94-147 sits on shed with a sister units. This facility was used to service and fuel locomotives while their respective waggon rakes were being tipped through the car dumpers. 22nd April 2000.
